Artifact Lighting
Artifact Lighting was founded in 2011 by Greg Bailey and Mark McConnell, driven by a love of antique lighting and making bespoke pieces from their studio with their talented team. Inspired by the heritage of English manufacturing, they wanted to keep the value of ‘Made In England’ within their products, designing contemporary lighting with traditional inspiration.
Their vision was to use local, natural materials, particularly plaster to create unique pieces that are handcrafted, environmentally responsible, and enhance the emotional connection to their space. Designing and making the Rocco pendant, deepened their expertise and sparked a fascination with plaster's performance and aesthetic potential.
With the launch of their workshop along the coast of Dorset, Artifact Lighting has become a collective of talented artisans committed to creating designs that reflect traditional lighting aesthetics.
Crafting each light in their workshop allows them to gain firsthand insight into the production process. This lets them contribute at every step of design, connecting the initial idea to the final product.
Motivated by this inspiration, their latest work the Rocco draws from the textures, patterns, and colours of Dorset's coastal cliffs and landscapes. Handcrafted with care from a blend of plaster, sand, and water, they prioritise using non-toxic, natural, and sustainable materials.
